Center for AI Safety hosts DC launch event featuring CAIS’ Dan Hendrycks, Jaan Tallinn, Sen. Brian Schatz, Rep. French Hill, and CNN’s Pamela Brown

The Center for AI Safety (CAIS) hosted a DC launch reception on Capitol Hill, Tuesday, July 24th, to highlight CAIS’ mission of promoting responsible AI policies to reduce societal-scale risks from AI.

Varun Krovi, director of government relations and public policy at the Center for AI Safety Action Fund welcomed the crowd of over 100 AI stakeholders and policymakers and introduced Rep. French Hill (R-AR), who delivered the opening remarks.

CNN’s chief investigative correspondent Pamela Brown, who anchor’s CNN’s new weekday show, “The Bulletin with Pamela Brown,” moderated a fireside chat with Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) on Congress’s approach to ensuring the responsible development and deployment of AI.

Brown then led a panel discussion with Dan Hendrycks, CAIS’ executive and research director, and Jaan Tallinn, the founding engineer of Skype and Kazaa and current CAIS board member, on the current challenges to make sure the focus is on responsible AI.
